Study Overview: This research is about stopping a medicine called Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) in older people (60+ years) with lupus, a disease where the body attacks its own tissues. While HCQ helps control lupus, it can harm the eyes if used for a long time. The study checks if patients can safely stop taking HCQ without their lupus getting worse.
Key Points for Participants:
- Participants must be 60 years or older, have stable lupus, and have normal eye tests.
- The study lasts one year, with check-ups every three months.
- Participants will either continue HCQ or take a placebo (a pill with no medicine).
Eligibility: To join, you need to have stable lupus, not be taking other immune-suppressing drugs, and be willing to follow the study rules. You should not have eye damage or recent severe lupus flares.
