This study is looking at how the brain reacts when it doesn't get enough oxygen, which is important for preventing injuries. To do this, we measure two things: oxygen extraction fraction (OEF), which shows how much oxygen the brain takes from the blood, and cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR), which shows how well blood vessels respond to changes. We use a special machine, RespirACT, and a cap called high-density diffuse optical tomography (HD-DOT) to take safe and quick pictures of the brain. The study can help us understand and prevent strokes in kids by comparing different ways of measuring CVR. Participants will have their brain scanned using MRI or HD-DOT and may have their vitals checked, do some thinking tests, and give a blood sample. The study takes place over up to three years, and participants might need to return for more scans.
- Study Length: Up to three years.
- Visits: MRI/HD-DOT scans 1-2 times over three years.
- Eligibility Age: 6-70 years old.
