**BOND Study on Breastfeeding and Heart Health** This study looks at how breastfeeding directly from the breast, called **Direct Breastfeeding (DBF)**, can help babies with **Congenital Heart Disease (CHD)** and their moms. CHD affects the heart from birth. They want to see if DBF can improve health and bonding between moms and babies. The study will happen at many hospitals. Some hospitals will try new ways to help with breastfeeding, while others will continue usual care. The study will track families until the baby is 1 year old. **Who can join?** Moms who are pregnant with or have a newborn baby diagnosed with CHD. Babies must need heart surgery or treatment soon after birth and be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). **Who can't join?** Moms or babies with certain medical conditions that make it unsafe, or moms who can't provide consent. **Key Points:** - **Length of Study:** Follow-up until baby is 12 months old. - **Participation:** Requires consent and willingness to follow study rules. - **Intervention:** Random assignment to new breastfeeding strategies or usual care. **Note:** Participation is voluntary, and you can discuss any concerns with the study team.
