Georgia CEAL RESTORES Family Diabetes Study is a clinical trial aiming to help families reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D). This study focuses on parents with prediabetes or at risk of diabetes and their children aged 12-17. The main goal is to help parents lose weight through a family-based lifestyle program. Families will attend 12 weekly sessions, each lasting about two hours. These sessions will include activities like walking, dancing, and sports to improve health habits.
Parents and children will also learn about healthy eating, cooking, and managing stress. At the end of each session, families will eat together. The study primarily measures weight loss in parents over 12 weeks and three months after the program.
