JAK Signaling in Depression and Cognition in Male Football Players

Study on JAK signaling's impact on depression in male football players.

Recruiting
30-55 years
Male
Phase 2

This study explores how inflammation (a body’s response to injury or illness) affects depression and thinking (cognition) in male football players. We're using a medicine called baricitinib, which helps reduce inflammation. Participants need to have played tackle football for at least 11 years and be between 30-55 years old. They should currently have depression or have had it recently. They will take baricitinib daily for 8 weeks. We'll do MRI scans and collect blood and urine samples to check safety and see how the body responds. Participants will also complete questionnaires and tests about mood and thinking. Blood samples may be saved for future research, with permission.

  • Participants take a daily medication for 8 weeks.
  • Will undergo scans and provide blood and urine samples.
  • Must have played tackle football for at least 11 years.
